Norwood Municipal Light Department Announces Upgraded Rebate Programs for Commercial and Industrial Ratepayers

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday, March 6, 2023

NORWOOD – The Town of Norwood Municipal Light Department (NMLD) is pleased to announce upgrades to its industrial lighting retrofit program and new Commercial/Industrial Refrigeration and Heat Pump Retrofit Programs.

These rebate programs are designed to help business customers operate lighting, refrigeration and heat pump systems as efficiently as possible. By participating in these programs, commercial and industrial customers will reduce their energy bills and also help the Commonwealth and NMLD achieve carbon reduction and energy conservation goals.

The programs have been divided into four groups including municipal, small commercial, medium commercial and large commercial/industrial. The Town of Norwood will contribute a percentage of the project cost or up to certain specified limits depending upon the size of the customer. The maximum contribution levels and program applications can be found on NMLD’s Energy Saving Rebates and Programs webpage.

“NMLD recognizes the recent upward economic pressure being put on our local business and believes that these updated incentive programs will help those who participate reduce their overall operating costs, as well as help NMLD ensure reliable and cost-effective service to all Norwood residents,” said Municipal Light Department Superintendent Kevin Shaughnessy.

NMLD’s partner, Energy New England (ENE), assists NMLD in administering these programs.

Applications can be submitted to commercial@ene.org for direct intake and processing.

Applications will be reviewed on a first-come-first-served basis. NMLD will determine whether it deems a project worthwhile. A determination as to whether a project is worthwhile is final and not subject to review. All work done must be completed and inspected to qualify for the program.

Further questions concerning the program can be directed to Joe Collins, Economic Development Director and NMLD Key Accounts Manager, at 781-948-1116 or JaCollins@norwoodlight.net.
