About the Good Neighbor Energy Fund
The Massachusetts Good Neighbor Energy Fund (GNEF) is available to any Massachusetts resident who, because of temporary financial difficulty, cannot meet a month’s energy expense and is not eligible for state or federal energy assistance. Income must fall between 60% and 80% of the state’s median income levels. You may qualify for up to $400 in assistance.
How to Apply
The Salvation Army will provide an application and administer the fund benefits.
- Visit your local Salvation Army Corps Community Center and pick up an application
- Drop your application at Norwood Light
OR
Required to Apply
- ID
- Proof of income like W2s, tax return, or paystub
- Utility bill
Qualifications
- Need to be between 60-80% of state median income
- You cannot qualify for Low Income assistance (i.e. Self Help)

If you’d like to donate to the Good Neighbor Energy Fund, there are a few ways:
Drop off a check at the Norwood Light office, 136 Access Road
Mail a check to the Salvation Army
